Who doesn't want a soft, thick carpet of intense green to make the plants, flowers and trees in the garden stand out even more? In front of the house, then, it is the best it can be on hot summer days, given that unlike any artificial roofing material, it does not overheat under the sun's rays.
The lawn: a green surface that the distracted observer can take for granted, but which on the contrary requires care and attention as assiduous as those dedicated to the cultivation of a plant or a flower.
It is, in fact, necessary to combat both drought (irrigating whenever necessary) and excessive rainfall (with good preventive drainage) and infesting weeds or moss.
To grow and not dry out, grass needs light and oxygen. Dry accumulations prevent the soil from absorbing sufficient moisture and hinder gas exchange. Aeration, carried out once a year, helps overcome these problems. During this operation, the aerator blades make thin cuts through the turf. In this way, water and nutritional elements are able to penetrate more easily to the roots, facilitating the development of younger grass seedlings.
The best aeration results are obtained in spring when the soil is sufficiently dry. During this period, the grass grows particularly quickly. Aerate the turf in various phases, proceeding in a crisscross direction. The second pass must be carried out in the opposite direction to the first, while the third must proceed perpendicularly to the first two. Adjust the blades so as to be able to penetrate the dry layer, while the underlying soil must be affected up to just 3 mm deep. A subsequent treatment with mineral-based fertilizer will facilitate the rapid regeneration of the turf.
