Winter Overseeding is a special mixture of tetraploid and multiflorum ryegrass capable of germinating in winter even at soil temperatures close to 0°C. They are used for autumn reseeding of macrotherme/gramigna meadows.

After a few days the Winter Overseeding ryegrasses germinate and grow very quickly until the entire lawn becomes green again but leaving the bermuda grass dormant at ground level. With the soil increasingly colder below 10°C, the germination times of common ryegrasses would be unsuitable, for this reason Winter Overseeding is used, composed of mixtures of tetraploid and multiflorum ryegrasses, capable of germinating in winter even at temperatures of the soil close to 0°C.

Sowing and Dosage

Germination can take from 3 to 10 days in direct correlation with soil temperatures (soil temperature required above 3-5°C). 30-40 g/m2 in classic situations and/or in gardens up to 80-100 g/m2 for technical overseeding (playgrounds). Higher doses are always recommended in case of overseeding in less than ideal conditions and/or with imperfect tillage of the seedbed. It is advisable to use lawn soil.

Cut

Perform the first cut when the grass reaches 4-6 cm. Never remove more than 30% of the vegetation present.

Irrigation

When sowing and reseeding, keep the soil constantly moist until complete germination.

Nutrition

Phosphate fertilization at sowing and then planning of 1-2 winter fertilizations with at least 30 units of nitrogen m2/year to rise up to 40 units of nitrogen m2/year in the case of sports greenery. During routine maintenance, limit the use of phosphorus-based fertilizers to avoid the possible proliferation of Poa Annua. Also plan 2 biostimulant treatments to increase tolerance to trampling and heat.
