Crankshaft Straightening Tool for Honda - Briggs & Strattom - Tecumseh Engines
General straightener kit, to straighten B&S and other brands crankshafts, suitable for restoring lawnmowers with standard three-point engine attachment.
Easier thanks to the upper and lower screws that push the shaft into the desired position, a little practice and the job is done quickly.
Perfect and useful tool for all professional repairers who are familiar with standard shafts or replacing crankshafts.
With this workshop tool if the shaft is not very bent or compromised (cracks, fissures, breakages) it can be restored to a closer precision point.
Crankshaft Straightener Instructions:
The “crankshaft straightener” can be used to straighten the power take-off crankshafts bent by NO MORE than 5-7 mm and in any case to be used for the repair of small displacement engines (Honda –B&S – Tecumseh)
Preliminary operations:
Remove the lawnmower blade and remove the engine from the lawnmower. Remove the spark plug from the engine.
Clean rust and dirt from the crankshaft.
Select the correct shaft protection sleeve based on the diameter of the shaft O 7/8” (22.2 mm) or 1” (25.4 mm) – screw the fixing screw until the shaft stops.
Repair operation:
Fix the engine to the vertical plate of the crankshaft straightener, using the same fixing screws as the lawnmower.
Turn the shaft so that the curved part is directed upwards.
Screw the lower counter bolt until it touches the straight part of the crankshaft.
Using a wrench, slowly screw the upper bolt until the crankshaft is straight.
Spin the crankshaft using the starter and check if the shaft is straight by checking that the indicator is stationary during the rotation of the shaft, otherwise repeat the operation again.
Loosen the plate bolts and reassemble the engine on the machine
It is not suitable for damaged shafts, in this case its use is not recommended, for crankshafts that have cracks or obvious bends, the complete shaft must always be replaced or the lawnmower must be restored with a new engine.
